About the RoleAs the Senior Manager, Individual and Planned Giving you are responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and management of AFTA’s major and legacy (planned) giving programs. You will assist the VP, Development with cultivating, soliciting, upgrading, and stewarding gifts of $2,500 +. Your contributions in collaboration with the other members of the Development team will help us reach our goal of raising $6 million each year in support of Americans for the Arts.

Your key responsibilities are:- Assisting the Senior, VP Development in developing, implementing, and managing gifts of $2,500 + and legacy (planned) gifts including helping to create short and long-term strategies and serving as primary point of contact.
- Managing a portfolio of planned gifts donors and prospects, sending frequent program updates, conducting prospect identification, and helping with the cultivation, solicitation, and closure of gift.
- Using information from our database to analyze and direct strategies for acquiring, renewing, and upgrading donors, and identifying major gift prospects.
- Using program performance to ensure accurate and timely record keeping and reporting to VP, Development, Executive Leadership team, and other stakeholders
- Ensuring all $2,500+ donor interactions are tracked accurately and that individual gifts are acknowledged in timely and appropriately to reflect their level of giving.
- Managing targeted, strategic cultivation events around our ongoing programs and activities across the country, with a focus on return on investment (ROI).
- Assisting the VP, Development in building a portfolio of 100 top level donors and prospects using AFTA’s moves management system:
- Creating, implementing, and tracking strategies for short-and-long term engagements.
- Developing and writing personalized solicitations for donors, creating and maintaining retention, renewal and upgrading records to measure performance identifying trends.
- Oversee the renewal planned giving vendors
- Stay current on leading practices and strategies for major donor and planned giving practices.
- Represent AFTA at functions, as appropriate. Some travel required.
- Commitment to advancing our mission, with a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- 3 – 5 years of experience with fundraising. Individual giving experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and support the cultivation and solicitation of gifts.
- A customer service background that is inclusive of making all people feel valued.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

- We have a 7.50-hour day, for a total of a 37.50 work week.
- Our core business hours are 10:00 am – 4:00 pm ET, Monday through Friday.
- Our Hybrid Work Policy requires employees to work from the office at least one (1) day a week. We encourage our staff to work from the office more than one day a week. Your manager can request that you work from the office additional days as business needs necessitate.
- The salary range for our Senior Manager level positions is $70,000 to $80,000.
